The Top Ten Reasons Why I Don't Call or See Myself as a Spiritual Teacher Any Longer

10.   While I know what a math teacher teaches and what an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher teaches and even what a Buddhist teacher teaches, I could never quite figure out what a spiritual teacher is supposed to be teaching.

9.   I don't want any students or followers and what's the point of being any kind of teacher if one doesn't want any kind of students?

8.   Have you noticed all the crazy s*%t people project onto spiritual teachers? Geez, I get enough projected onto me already just by being gay, black and by very occasionally wearing flowing skirts with matching pumps and lipstick.

7.   I don't particularly like attending retreats, satsangs, workshops and seminars but at least I can slip out early when bored, horny or hungry if I'm just attending it.

6.   Andrew Cohen

5.   I don't have anything new to say.

4.   The Sermon on the Mount and that cool teaching where the Buddha silently held up a single flower. After those stellar crowd-pleaser's everything else seems sort of passe' dontcha think?

3.   Puppetji Guru and Swami Beyondananda have already cornered the markets I would want.

2.   Did I mention Andrew Cohen?

1.   Did you notice how many times I used the word "I" in even this simple little piece of writing. I don't know. I mean, I don't think that's a very good sign. I'm just sayin'...

Hi Sunny,

Thank you for your comment.

I don't really experience what I wrote here as an indication of my being anti-something. I know I am not anti spiritual teaching or spiritual teachers, in general. I'm not even anti- Andrew Cohen. We each have our place is the cosmic and mysterious tapestry. I wrote this largely, though not completely as a tongue-in-cheek piece...
