Today's Wisdom From Maya Angelou

If you really believe a thing, you do the thing. You not only just say you believe. There is the Confucian saying that to know and not to do is in fact not to know. A number of people say they know---they know this and they know that and they want this and they want that. They don't really know. See, if a person really knew that what goes around comes around they wouldn't commit evil acts. If they knew it, they say it, they intellectually have embraced it--but to know it means you know it in your bones, you know it. The marrow of your bones is imprinted with that knowledge. You can't do otherwise, when you know it. So Peace Pilgrim knew it and so she did it.

Today's Wisdom From Karen Armstrong (feat. Saint Augustine)

"Saint Augustine, founder of the Western Christian tradition said that if a biblical text seems to teach hate and violence we have to give it an allegorical interpretation and make it speak charity even if this distorts the meaning of the original biblical author."

Karen Armstrong
Historian of Religion/ Creator of the Charter of Compassion

Todays Wisdom from Eckhart Tolle

"It is true that only an unconscious person will try to use or
manipulate others, but it is equally true that only an unconscious person can  be used and manipulated. If you resist or fight unconscious behavior in others, you become unconscious yourself. But surrender does not mean that you allow yourself to be used by unconscious people. Not at all. It is perfectly possible to say “no” firmly and clearly to a person or to walk away from a situation and be in a state of complete inner nonresistance at the same time. When you say no to a person or a situation let it come not from reaction but from insight, from a clear realization of what is right or not right for you at that moment. Let it be a nonreactive no, a high-quality no, a no that is free from negativity and so creates no further suffering."

Today's Wisdom from Ram Dass

The definition of Namaste:

"I honor the place in you
in which the entire universe dwells.
I honor the place in you
which is of love, of truth, of light, and of peace.
I honor the place in you where,
if you are in that place in you,
and I am in that place in me,
there is only one of us."

Today's Wisdom From Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov

"Many people believe that what really matters is what a Master says, the wisdom he transmits. They think that if he says nothing they learn nothing. But even if a Master does not say a word, what emanates from him communicates something of his light and strength to you.’
‘I have known the mystical way:
            The heart, feelings, sesnations, love.
I have known the spiritual way:
            Study and knowledge.
I have also followed the way of concrete realization
Through work and exercise of the will.
I have tried these three ways one after the other,
and in each I have achieve results.
And yet, I do not want to follow one or the other: I want all three."

Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov

Today's Wisdom From Mark Shields/ Neo American Gothic

"Last week we saw a white Catholic male Republican judge murdered on his way to greet a Democratic Jewish woman member of Congress, who was his friend. Her life was saved initially by a 20-year-old Mexican-American gay college student, and eventually by a Korean American combat surgeon, and this all was eulogized by our African American President."

Today's Wisdom from Tenzin Gyatso

"My basic belief is that first you need to realize the usefulness of compassion, that's the key factor. Once you accept the fact that compassion is not something childish or sentimental, once you realize that compassion is something really worthwhile and realize its deeper value, then you immediately develop an attraction towards it, a willingness to cultivate it."

Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama
